Course Prerequisites: No assumed knowledge
Minimum Age: No minimum but Under 16’s must be accompanied by adult. Persons aged 16+ can be unaccompanied subject to other pre-requisites having been met
Holiday Insurance: We would advise ALL our customers to ensure they have suitable holiday insurance in-place. Yachtsman’s insurance is available from a variety of souces like Topsail Insurance and can cover things like cancellations and personal effects cover.
The Solent Sailing Weekend is the perfect introduction to newly qualified sailors who want to gain more experience in friendly, familiar waters, or anyone just wanting a great weekend afloat!
Running over two days the Solent Sailing Weekend will give you a taste of what the Solent has to offer. You’ll be cruising round the vibrant and exciting waters of the Solent, experiencing the tranquillity and fun of being on a sailing yacht!
You’ll get to visit some of the truly iconic marinas and ports in the Solent like the ever-vibrant Cowes, or maybe Hamble, the home of sailing in the UK.
Along with some cracking sailing in the familiar and friendly waters of the Solent, you’ll get to see the sights like the four forts (Spitbank, St Helens, No mans land and Horse Sand), the Needles and Portsmouth harbour.
Courses run in a choice of two formats:
Starts from our Gosport marina base and visits various ports and marinas in the Solent
What better a way to celebrate that new RYA Competent Crew or Day Skipper qualification than with a Solent Sailing weekend aboard one of our fleet yachts!
A great way to build some confidence on your own weekend, with your family and friends, guided by one of our experienced and professional RYA qualified instructors.
You’ll get to see first hand why the Solent is the home of sailing in the UK, with so much to see you’ll be spoilt for things to go and look at.
You might see yacht racing at Cowes, big cruise liners from Southampton and of course our Royal Navy vessels leaving or arriving at Portsmouth harbour.
With so much to see, you can guarantee you’ll want to do these weekends over and over again!

Our very popular Marina Skills & Power Handling course is a real confidence-builder for any sailor who has to deal with tight or difficult marina berths. We also cover things like adverse weather and tide whilst berthing, along with picking up mooring buoys too. An essential course for skippers and crew alike, you’ll feel your confidence grow after doing this course.
