The RYA/MCA Yachtmaster™ Coastal course is designed for anyone who has successfully completed the RYA Day/Coastal Skipper course and wants to take their sailing to the next level with a professional qualification.
You will need to have completed the Yachtmaster Theory course or have knowledge of navigation theory to this level before taking the RYA Coastal Preparation Course as there is insufficient time to teach you the theory during the week.
The RYA/MCA Yachtmaster™ Coastal Preparation course aims to refine your existing skills and abilities as a Skipper and Yachtsman. The five days of the course will be used to first assess and then polish your skills to perfection in order to help you achieve your goal.
We will do a quick assessment on your Skippering and navigational techniques, including close quarter sailing skills, man overboard recovery, pilotage, passage planning and much more, to give your trainer the best idea and pathway to achieve your goals.
During the five days of preparation you will be fully debriefed every day and sometimes after each individual exercise as needed. You will be given details of areas you need to work on to guide you through to the best possible outcome.
With practice and thorough preparation, you should be able to relax sufficiently to let your skills shine through any exam nerves. Remember that the more practice you do, the better you become at something and the higher the chance of success. Practice makes perfect!
To give you the best chance of passing, the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster™ Coastal preparation course is over five days, with a break on the fifth evening to give you some needed rest time before your exam which begins on the sixth day of the week.
This gives you the best opportunity to ensure you are fully refreshed and motivated in order to pass the exam.
On this course you will be heavily tested and pushed by our Instructor. Brushing up on your theory beforehand and self-testing really helps prepare you for the exam.
You will need to make sure your theory knowledge is up to scratch.
