Study for your RYA VHF Radio licence on-line or with a classroom course.

It is a legal requirement for anyone operating a VHF Radio to hold a RYA VHF Radio Licence. If you are a Day Skipper or Coastal Skipper and either charter of sail your own boat it makes good sense to study for your licence. This will keep you legal as well as ensure you know the correct procedures for operating a marina VHF radio. You can do this either by attending a classroom at a RYA training centre or by studying online. RYA Interactive have created an easy to access and simple to follow, on-line RYA VHF Radio course that can be studied at home. You just need to attend a RYA Training Centre for an assessment.

Whether you prefer to study online or in the classroom, we have RYA VHF Radio course or assessment dates  to help you gain your VHF Radio Licence. You will find regular dates for classroom courses as well as assessment dates for online students by following the links to the side of this page.

If you choose to take the RYA VHF Radio Course as an online course we have tried to make it easy for you to find a suitable assessment session. We are planning Assessment Sessions almost every Friday and Sunday afternoon starting at 5pm. If you are attending a practical course, you can book a VHF Radio Assessment to coincide with your course dates. You simply select an assessment date when booking the online course. If you cannot find a suitable date, just contact us and we will see what we can do to assist.

There is a Licence fee is currently £60 and is payable to the RYA. Licences can take a few weeks to arrive or can be fast tracked for a small fee.
