I had an amazing weekend. I had very tittle experience and was very nervous arriving on Friday night to do my first weekend of the competent crew course. Tom was there to meet me. He was excellent very laid back instructor. I learnt loads and looking forward to completing the comp crew course.

Helen – Competent Crew, July 2019

John was an absolute star – so friendly with great patience and really informative – a great teacher

William – Competent Crew, June 2019

Very good yacht, fully equipped and excellent instructor who was very patient with us all.

Chiyo – Competent Crew, June 2019

Both instructors were friendly, calm and instilled utter confidence. They were also both excellent company. Many thanks to both for two excellent weekends.

Bob – Competent Crew Weekends, March 2018

As a novice doing a competent crew course it was interesting to be exposed to the 2 guys training / assessments who were doing the day skipper course. Simon was very good as was Kevin, who taught with a pleasingly relaxed and calm approach.

Laurence – Competent Crew Weekend, March 2018

As a complete and utter novice, I was anxious that the course wouldn’t be for me. Not the case! All the instructors were patient and helped me to learn at a perfect pace. I feel very confident as a result of my five days. I was also not expecting the course to be so much fun! Thanks to all – including Brian x

Becky – Competent Crew, March 2018

John is fantastic instructor. Patient, composed and very knowledgeable. He invested a lot of his time in making sure we understand everything and we have sufficient practice in every aspect of handling the boat. He was also fun in the evenings which made our course very nice experience!

Bart – Competent Crew, May 2016

I was at first concerned that I was the only member of the crew doing the competent crew training, this actually worked out really well as I really felt part of a team and learnt so much from them too. My sailing confidence has grown tremendously and I’m really looking forward to the further 3 day training this weekend. I also learnt that I really don’t need to take so much ‘stuff’ with me next time! Thank you.

Katy – Competent Crew, March 2016

I had a fantastic time, I learnt a lot and I felt far more confident to go on and complete day skipper by the end of the week. Many thanks.

Anna – Competent Crew, October 2015

The competent crew course was such a brilliant experience. This was my first time on a sailing yacht (only been in dinghies before) so it was mostly new to me. Our instructor Emma was very skilled in not only sailing but also in the art of training people – she moved seamlessly between the role of skipper, crew member and trainer and was a pleasure to get to know. I would like to thank her and my crew mates for a unique five days and will return for a Day Skipper course as soon as I can. Thanks.

Mark – Competent Crew, April 2015

Neil was absolutely brilliant! He was calm, had a great sense of humour and was very knowledgeable both with the sailing skills and the area. He gave us so much confidence (something I tend to lack!) and made it a very enjoyable week. Thank you!!

Sue – Competent Crew, February 2014

This was my first time sailing, and so was a little worried how I would cope, Will and the other instructors put me at ease and explained everything very well, my Competent Crew course was better than I expected. After speaking to my friends about my experience they are now keen to try sailing as well.10/10

Justin – Competent Crew, February 2014
