About This Course

Cruising Instructor Course

Course Content:

Commodore Yachting’s Cruising Instructor course takes place over 5 days with one day being spent in the classroom and four days out on the water. You will need to already be a Commercially Endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore to take this course which is the first level RYA teaching qualification. After successfully completing the course and assessment you will be qualified to teach RYA Competent Crew and Day Skipper practical courses at any recognised RYA training centre.

At Commodore Yachting this course is taught by our senior instructors , who have many years of experience teaching all levels of students from absolute beginners to Yachtmasters.
You will be taught varied teaching techniques to enable to to make the most of the many different learning styles and enable you to get the very best out of your students. You will go learn how to plan your courses, make the most of all the training opportunites available as well as managing your time ensuring that you cover the whole RYA syllabus during a course. During the Cruising Instructor course you will take part in role play situations where you will find out how it feels to be both the instructor and the student.

Hi Jackie and Karen

Just a quick note to say thank you for allowing me to run your CI course this week. The delegates were all very good and I would be happy to recommend them all to any school as a new CI. This is unusual as from previous courses, there has normally been only one or two that I would recommend……. Matt (assessor) was of the same opinion!
Additionally, the pre-course administration and the yacht preparation was also very thorough and allowed the course to run smoothly….

Thanks again

FEEDBACK – Cruising Instructor Student Reviews

John is one of the best instructors I have ever sailed with – he made the course fun, informative and his knowledge and enthusiasm (and sense of humour) shone through all week. Very professional. The high line transfer in the dark was a first for me and the highlight of the week! I cannot speak highly enough of this man, and if I ever get to be half the instructor he is I will be a happy teddy bear!
