Here is the 6th ‘Top Tip’ in our series of navigation tips and hints for students studying both RYA Day Skipper theory and the RYA Coastal / Yachtmaster Theory course. Whether you are studying on-line, in the classroom or with a correspondence course at home these navigation tips are designed to help you complete and pass your Day Skipper or Yachtmaster theory course. Hopefully fully fledged Day Skippers will also find them useful reminders of their Day Skipper theory course!

Tip of the Day – Using Tidal Diamonds
All the times for the diamonds and the tide stream atlas are referred to HW Victoria, regardless of where you are actually located. So for example, if you were looking at the tide streams in Namely harbour entrance you would work out the time of HW Victoria and find out which hour to use in the tide stream atlas.
Please let us have your questions about this subject or any queries about Day Skipper or Yachtmaster theory. When we get enough we will devote a page to an ‘ask the expert’ session.
