I have started my Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Theory On-line Course but will not complete it before attending the practical course. Can I still attend?
Before you start the practical course, we would recommend that you complete the theory course and pass the exam. If you have run out of time but are nearly there, please let us know and we will inform your instructor. You will need to have worked through all the navigation sections and as as many other sections as possible. You can then complete the Coastal Skipper practical course but we will with hold your certificate until you have passed your theory exam.
Please remember the Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster theory and Coastal Skipper practical course are both full courses with 40 / 50 hours of study for each. Your instructor will not be able to teach Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster theory during your practical course and will expect you to have this knowledge.
My friends say I should miss out Day Skipper Theory and go straight to the Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Theory Course. Is this possible?
We would strongly recommend that you take the Day Skipper Theory Course before undertaking the Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Theory course. The Day Skipper Theory and Day Skipper Practical Courses underpin the knowledge required to successfully complete the Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Theory Course.
