We have just added more dates for RYA Start Yachting / weekend sailing courses to offer more places as the summer programme fills up. The weekends are suitable for complete novice sailors wishing to to try sailing for the first time as well as anyone wishing to take Competent Crew or Day Skipper over 3 weekends. If you don’t want to take a RYA sailing course the weekend is jus as suitable to gain experience or just to relax! RYA Start Yachting

Start Yachting is the first course in the RYA cruising scheme and is aimed at complete beginners or anyone just wishing to get out on the water for a refresher. You will be accommodated on one of our comfortable Bavarias complete with central heating and our experienced instructor will be there to help you gain confidence throughout the weekend. By the end of the Start Yachting weekend you will have steered at the helm, winched in the sails and tied the yacht up on the pontoon. The emphasis throughout the weekend is on having fun and the chances are you will want to come back and further your sailing experience.

PSP Southampton Boat Show – Champagne Breakfast!

The PSP Southampton Boat show will begin in style on Saturday with a champagne and strawberry breakfast. Visit stand K099 in the New Solent Hall to enjoy breakfast with Solent based RYA Sailing School Commodore Yachting while you discuss your RYA training and Solent Yacht Charter requirements. RYA Instructors and both Yachtmaster and Day Skipper students will be on the stand to talk to visitors about their experiences helping you choose the RYA course to suit your plans. From Start Yachting and Competent Crew to Ocean Yachtmaster there will be something for everyone!

Start Yachting goes International!

At least 12 different nationalities took part in a Commodore Yachting Start Yachting taster day over the weekend. The intreped sailors were all part of a London social networking group which enables people, including many from overseas, living and working in London to make friends and try new activities. Groups spent 3 hour sessions out on the water trying their hand at helming, trimming sails and manning the winches. For many this was their first experience of yachting and most want to go on and take RYA training courses starting with Competent Crew. After an exciting day out on the water the group enjoyed an meal at the Castle Tavern in Gosport followed by a party on the Commodore Barge.
