The latest report from the crew of Adelaide Star taking part in the RORC series De Guingand Bowl race finds them sailing at a stomping 8 knots and flying the spinnaker as they near the finish line. Having lost ground last night as they disentagled themselves from a lobster pot, skipper Stuart Cooper was pleased to report that the Commodore Yachting crew have held a very respectable position in the race. The kedge anchor became entangled with the pot when it was dropped in an attempt to prevent the yacht losing ground when the tide turned against them but was recovered safely after 30 precious minutes were lost.

Asked for an insight into the crew’s tactics during this Fastnet Race qualifier the skipper stated the plan was ‘to go as fast as we can’. With only 1 coconut flapjack and 4 treacle tarts remaining on board the 7 strong crew had some serious decisions to make before reaching the finish line close to The Needles. Stuart Cooper added that his only regret was not to have landed a lobster!
