Basic Navigation and Safety Theory

16 Hours

A new course providing an introduction to navigation and basic safety in a small boat at sea. No pre-course experience is necessary.After the course students should have gained a basic knowledge of navigation and safety.

You will be awarded a certificate for completing this course.

Weekend Course all year round. This course is non residential. Held on our barge at Gosport Marina.

Day Skipper Theory

40 hour course + exam time

Some practical experience is desirable for before taking this course.This course provides a comprehensive introduction to navigation and meteorology.After the course you will have gained background knowledge to skipper a small yacht in familiar waters by day.

There are 2 exam papers at the end of this course and a certificate will be awarded for passing.

This course is non residential. Held on our barge at Gosport Marina.Can be either Saturday to Wednesday, Monday to Friday or over a 2 day and 3 day weekend. All year round.

Coastal Skipper /Yachtmaster Theory

40 hour course + exam time

You will need to have Day Skipper theory or equivalent knowledge before taking this course. This course teaches advanced offshore and coastal navigation, pilotage, meteorology and IRPCS. After the course you will have gained background knowledge to skipper a yacht in on coastal passages by day and night.

There are 3 exam papers at the end of this course and a certificate will be awarded for passing.

This course is non residential. Held on our barge at Gosport Marina.Can be either Saturday to Wednesday, Monday to Friday or over a 2 day and 3 day weekend. All year round.

First Aid

1 day

This course aims to provide a working knowledge of first aid for yacht and motor boat skippers and crew. It fulfills the requirements for skippers of small craft working within 60 miles of a safe haven.

This course is non residential. Held on our barge at Gosport Marina.Saturday or Sunday course All year round.

VHF/GMDSS Radio Course

1 day

If you own or use a marine hand held or fixed radio set you are required by law to hold an operators licence. This course will teach you the procedures for operation and gain the qualification in 1 day.

This course is non residential. Held on our barge at Gosport Marina. Saturday or Sunday course All year round.

Cost £75 + license fee payable to the RYA

Diesel Engine Course

1 day

This course provides an awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine and teaches the ability to take simple measures to prevent mechanical breakdown.

No pre– course knowledge is required.

This course is non residential. Held on our barge at Gosport Marina. Saturday or Sunday course All year round.
