The RYA’s motor cruising programme
is for those wanting to start cruising, or to expand their cruising
knowledge. It encourages high standards of seamanship and navigation
in pursuit of the RYA’s belief that a system of voluntary
education is more likely to achieve higher standards of safety than
legislation to control and regulate our sport.
Our programme comprises a series of practical courses which are
complemented by our navigation courses and other specialist short
courses.
You can enjoy them simply to increase your knowledge and confidence,
or use them as a progression to the RYA/MCA Certificates of Competence
which are recognised by maritime authorities worldwide. |
 |
| Further details of exams can be found
in the Certificates of Competence section on the left.
By taking your course at an RYA Recognised Training Centre you
can expect to be taught by an experienced, qualified instructor
on board a seaworthy boat with a maximum of five trainees. Courses
can be taken either onboard a centre’s boat or your own boat.
You can enter our programme at any level, provided that you have
the correct level of experience beforehand. Be realistic when assessing
your current experience and abilities and, if in doubt, discuss
your requirements with your chosen training centre before booking
your course.
