We offer a full programme of RYA shorebased courses at our Gosport Marina base.

You can choose between taking a RYA shorebased course in our classroom or we can come to you. If you have a goup as us about running a RYA shorebased course in your workplace or club. For groups of 6 or more the organiser gets a free place!

Alternatively you can take several RYA shorebased courses on-line. Currently the RYA Essential Navigation and Safety course, Day Skipper Theory, Coastal / Yachtmaster Theory, Yachtmaster Ocean Theory, CEVNI and the Professional Practices and Responsibilities Course (PPR) are available as RYA On-line courses. The RYA are working on further on-line RYA shorebased courses which will be available over the next year..

Essential Navigation and Seamanship

This the first RYA navigation course  and is suitable for beginners who want an easy introduction to navigation.

Day Skipper Theory

This the most popular navigation course in the RYA Cruising Scheme.  Sucessful completion of this five day shorebased  course provides the essential background navigation knowledge required to progress on to Day Skipper practical.

Coastal / Yachtmaster theory

This is an advanced navigation course and will prepare you with the navigation knowledge required for your Yachtmaster Coastal and Yachtmaster Offshore practical courses. All our shorebased courses take place on our floating classroom at Gosport Marina. Shorebased courses are non-residential but if there is a boat available we can offer you accommodation on board for £10.00 per night. The RYA also offer a range of one-day which are useful for all skippers and crew and essential for anyone wishing to take Yachtmaster exams or work commercially. We offer the follow one-day courses:

RYA First Aid

which aims to provide a working knowledge of first aid for skippers and crews of small vessels.

VHF Radio (including GMDSS)

this practical VHF radio coursewill teach you how to use a marine radio and fulfil the legal oblicgation to be licenced if you own or operate a marine radio.

Diesel Engine Course

provides an awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine, maintenance and the ability to rectify a range of defects at sea.

Shorebased course information

All our shorebased courses take place in our own classroon situated in a floating barge at Gosport Marina. Shorebased courses are non-residential but if there is a boat available we can offer you accommodation on board for £10.00 per night. Arrival Time: Shorebased courses start at 0900 hrs and finish at around 1700 hrs Accommodation: if required is on board one of our Bavaria yachts.  We provide pillows and pillowcases but you will need to bring your own sleeping bags and towels.
