RNLI Life Jacket Safety Checks

RNLI life jacket safety checks
Commodore Yachting held another of its Saturday Special Coffee Mornings on Saturday 7th May. The early bird coffee hour took place before the start of the Solent Sailing School’s RYA First Aid course enabling students to learn about life jacket safety. This week Paul White of the RNLI paid a visit and provided free life jacket checks to sailing school students and Gosport Marina berth holders. The importance of doing a regular check was illustrated when 2 of the life jackets inspected failed the safety check and may not have offered the life saving protection that its wearer would have expected. In one case the gas cylinder had become detached and would not have been able to inflate the jacket had the wearer fallen into the water.
