Milebuilding race from Cherbourg to Guernsey
16 knots through Alderney Race
After leaving Yarmouth on Sunday morning we arrived in Cherbourg late experiencing quite a bumpy Cross Channel crossing. Juris who has joined the crew from Latvia was pleased to announce that he has experienced a new illness that he has only read about in books. He now plans to spend the next few weeks getting to know his new illness which he discovered to be sea sickness and learing how to overcome it.
We left Cherbourg this morning after a short exploratory visit to the town before making the 40 mile passage to Guernsey to begin a Channel Island cruise. This involved the notorious Alderney Race and naturally we undertook it with wind against tide when it is in its most angry condition. However we managed 16 knots top speed on the Alderney Race roller coaster with the whole crew agreeing that it was a fantastic ride before arriving at St Peter Port this evening.
