MCA Marine Diesel Engineering Course

This Marine Coast Guard Agency approved course has been designed to meet and comprehensively cover the MCA syllabus.

Who should take this course?

Those involved in the manning of small private or commercial motor/sailing vessels operated for personal, training or charter activities, who wish to improve their knowledge of marine diesel engines and related systems.

Course Aims:

The objective of this course is to provide candidates with the basic theoretical knowledge and some practical hands on experience of diesel engines to enable them to meet the requirements of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) Codes of Practice for the safety of Large Commercial Sailing and Motor Vessels, Small Commercial Motor Vessels and the Safety of Small Workboats and Pilot Boats.

Course Content:

* General principles of compression ignition engines

* Fuel systems

* Combustion

* Cooling and lubrication systems

* Electrical installations

* Power transmission

* Hull fittings

* Pollution legislation

* Safe working practices

* LPG installations

* Fault finding and rectification are included in each section.

Progression:

This course provides candidates with an international certificate supporting work abroad.

5 days

Course fees:

£570.00 including lunch each day

This courses will take place in Poole, Dorset and is provided by The Marine Skills Centre They subject to minimum number participation.
