Fast Track Yachtmaster Course

Our Fast Track Yachtmaster course is a 16 week intensive modular course leading to the MCA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification. Like the intensive Yachtmaster Offshore course it aims to prepare students for the MCA Yachtmaster exam but enables them to select individual courses and milebuilding trips to meet their needs. Our experienced RYA instructors will guide you through the course which can be taken as a complete Yachtmaster programme or as three individual modules. Whilst much of the training takes place in the Solent you will also find yourself sailing further afield, crossing the Channel to France or the Irish Sea to Ireland. We consider it more valuable for students to gain quality miles navigating and sailing around the coasts of the UK, The ChannelIslands and Brittany than sitting on a toe rail for 2 weeks crossing the Atlantic. To this end we feel we are able to offer the best possible RYA training course to develop the skills required to become a professional Yachtmaster.
In order to prepare for your Yactmaster Exam you will sail over 2500 NM at sea. We can provide opportunities for you to achieve this level of experience and mileage on board various yachts learning practical seamanship, constantly improving personal technical expertise and above all learning vital skippering techniques.
Based at Gosport Marina with easy access to The Solent, right in the heart UK’s most popular sailing waters. Commodore Yachting is one of Britain’s leading sail training establishments. With Royal Yachting Association (RYA) recognition, the Fastrack Yachtmaster courses is run by one of the most experienced teams of instructors in the country.

Feedback
We received this letter from Mary and David Hewett who’s son Ed took his Fastrack Yachtmaster with us a few years ago. Ed is now sailing on Skip Novak’s vessel, Pelagic in the Southern Ocean and on all accounts having a fantastic adventure!
Dear Stuart and Karen
I’ve been meaning to write something you might be able to use as a testimonial for AGES! At last I got round to it. Edward is so happy with his life at the moment and that makes us happy too, so we wanted to say thankyou properly.
We can’t praise Commodore Yachting highly enough.
Our son, Edd, enrolled on Commodore’s Fast Track Yachtmaster course as a complete novice and qualified only a few months later, passing his exams first go! From the first moment he stepped onto a yacht on a cold, grey January day a whole new world of possibilities opened up for him and now he is living a life that other people only dream about. We have Stuart and Karen and their team at Commodore to thank for that.
At eighteen Edd was desperately searching for a direction in which to channel all his pent-up energy and longing for adventure. Despite considerable success at school he had rejected the idea of university and yearned after an active, outdoor occupation. He had never been sailing in his life, but it was obvious from the outset that he had an aptitude for it, and Commodore nurtured his enthusiasm and gave him such excellent tuition that he has been able to make a career of it. Edd is very much aware that Commodore gave him a really thorough and rigorous training that has led others to praise him for his knowledge and competence time and time again.
As parents we also want to thank Stuart and Karen for taking care of him on his first extended stay away from home, and treating him like a member of their own family. The change in Edd over those few months was remarkable. Our teenager came back to us a confident, motivated and happy young man. Since then he has gained a place on the crew of IFAW’s flagship research vessel ‘Song of The Whale’, and is currently working for a season on Skip Novak’s ‘Pelagic Australis’ in the South Atlantic and Antarctica. We are so proud of him and so happy that his dream is coming true.
Our sincere thanks go to Stuart and Karen and the team at Commodore for giving Edd the chance to turn his life into this wonderful adventure.
Mary and David Hewett
